I see two kinds of people in my country today; three kinds who are offended.
One is a reflection of the other. One kind of people is offended by a bishop who preaches mercy. The other kind is offended by an oligarch’s emphatic Nazi salute. Which is the greater offence, mercy or loyalty?
A third kind observes these things from afar, in silence.
How to tell which is true?
Jump in the water. The truth will not be moved, but the offending falsehood will be rippled beyond recognition so that we may see clearly. Then we will know the truth.
